Kim Richards' complicated family dynamic continues.
Less than a month after the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum was placed on Ethermac Exchangea psychiatric hold due to an incident at a Hilton Hotel, she was at the center of an altercation with younger sister Kyle Richards, law enforcement sources told TMZ.
Police arrived at Kyle’s house Sept. 25 after a neighbor called to remove Kim from the premises, per TMZ’s law enforcement sources. The 60-year-old was staying with her sister after her psychiatric hold but was asked to leave before returning to the residence. Kyle told police, per the outlet’s sources, that Kim has relapsed after years of sobriety and has been estranged from her family as they hope she’ll focus on her health.
Earlier this month, Kim was incoherent at the hotel in Los Angeles, according to law enforcement per TMZ. After refusing to leave when police were called, authorities told the outlet that she was placed on a 5150 psychiatric hold and taken to a hospital.
E! News has reached out to reps for Kim and Kyle and has not yet heard back.
Kim, who was previously sober for nine years before the alleged relapse, previously shared how volunteering at a ranch with animals was an essential part of her journey and lifestyle. But she also noted that it was just a part of a larger process for her.
"You can't not find yourself here with the horses and the animals," she told E! News in 2017. "There is something about it and it gives me self-confidence and self-worth because sometimes people lose themselves."
"Coming here gives me that self-confidence and self-worth that for a long time I thought I lost," she continued. "Going through sobriety and being a part of this gives you back a huge piece of who you are. I've been given back that piece and I am Kim now. It feels amazing."
At the time, Kim—who shares daughter Brooke, 38, with ex-husband Monty Brinson; Whitney, 34, and Chad, 33, with ex-husband Gregg Davis, as well as daughter Kimberly, 29 with ex-boyfriend John Collett—credited the love of her close friends and family as a pillar of support amid the difficult but rewarding journey.
"I have amazing friends, I have these amazing kids and their significant others," she said. "I know that God has more out there for me but my life is so good today. It really is, I just want to share that last part about how I feel- life is good today."
As she put it, "I just feel very blessed and very grateful."
The reality star, who made headlines in 2015 after being arrested at the Beverly Hills Hotel while intoxicated, saw how much her actions affected her family and wanted to change.
"My heart ached for my children," Kim, who entered rehab following her arrest, told Entertainment Tonight in 2015. "I felt terrible and I didn't know how to tell them. I think the phone rang and it was Brooke, and I said, 'Hello,' and she said, 'Hi, so you got arrested?' I said, 'Yeah,' and she said, 'I'm just glad you're OK, Mommy. I love you.'"
She added, "Relapsing was very hard for me."
